Evaluation Metrics in Ontology Modules

چکیده

In recent years, there has been much advancement in the field of ontology modularity. However, work on evaluation metrics for modules is lacking. For the studies that do exist on evaluation metrics, they specialise on only a few metrics, and there is not always a quantitative approach to calculate them. Furthermore, the metrics are not comprehensive enough to apply to the different types of modules and it is unclear which metrics fare well with, say locality-based modules as opposed to those that fare well with partition modules. In this paper, we create a comprehensive list of both existing and new evaluation metrics for modules, together with equations to measure them. In order to test these metrics with existing modules, we create an ontology module metrics tool, Tool for Ontology Module Metrics (TOMM), to measure the metrics of an ontology module or a set of related ontology modules. This leads to uncovering metrics fare well with which module types.

Dependencies Between Modularity Metrics Towards Improved Modules

Recent years have seen many advances in ontology modularisation. This has made it difficult to determine whether a module is actually a good module; it is unclear which metrics should be considered. The few existing works on evaluation metrics focus on only some metrics that suit the modularisation technique, and there is not always a quantitative approach to calculate them. Overall, the metric...

Evaluation of Classifiers in Software Fault-Proneness Prediction

Reliability of software counts on its fault-prone modules. This means that the less software consists of fault-prone units the more we may trust it. Therefore, if we are able to predict the number of fault-prone modules of software, it will be possible to judge the software reliability. In predicting software fault-prone modules, one of the contributing features is software metric by which one ...

Context-aware Modeling for Spatio-temporal Data Transmitted from a Wireless Body Sensor Network

Context-aware systems must be interoperable and work across different platforms at any time and in any place. Context data collected from wireless body area networks (WBAN) may be heterogeneous and imperfect, which makes their design and implementation difficult. In this research, we introduce a model which takes the dynamic nature of a context-aware system into consideration. This model is con...

Spatial Evaluation of Energy Performance at Neighborhood Scale Case study: Sanandaj city

Climate change has become a challenge with adverse impacts on the Earth. Reducing the use of fossil fuel is a primary step to solve environmental problems. As the population continues to rise, to meet the growing demand for construction with a large share in energy Consumption, Efforts to make the built environment more energy efficient is crucial. The main objective of this research is to eval...

Applicability of Quality Metrics for Ontologies on Ontology Design Patterns

Ontology Design Patterns (ODPs) provide best practice solutions for common or recurring ontology design problems. This work focuses on Content ODPs. These form small ontologies themselves and thus can be subject to ontology quality metrics in general. We investigate the use of such metrics for Content ODP evaluation in terms of metrics applicability and validity. The quality metrics used for th...
